It has become so clear to me that the only way I could truly face this stuff and not pass it on to my kids is to find some scuba gear and learn how to use it so they can learn from us. For me it's been therapy, but maybe others can achieve it on their own. I know I could never have done it without help though. You are such a wonderful mother, person and friend and your kids know that. They are great people who are lucky to have a sensitive, smart, loving, strong mother like you. Thanks so much for your message. It really is amazing to realize that there IS a big difference between recognition and the work that goes into actually confronting them. No small task! Though I'm still at the "bury it up" stage. I think I have a few ideas of how to clean it up, but I can see that it will take quite a long time. I've been wondering how I can prevent this kind of thinking and self-esteem issue for my own children- especially when I'm not exactly the best example of thinking well of myself! <br />Anyway, I've been so impressed with your work with RLH and *always* admired the kind of patient, fun, and understanding mother you are.Marisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14418125110140294646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3180963318526297211.post-79009219546886085322013-03-16T04:59:10.884-07:002013-03-16T04:59:10.884-07:00It's good to find those demons! I was one, and when I finally faced them, it opened up all new realms of possibilities. As soon as I was able to accept myself for who I was, I was able to accept others in a way I never dreamed of. Realizing they are there is one thing, confronting and working on them is another... Nice article, Sarah!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
