It means a lot to me to hear from you anyway, let alone in such a supportive way. I will try a bunch of your suggestions for sure...it's amazing (and stifling) to realize how limited your choices are with stuff like this when you are taking care of little ones but I know it's a priority and I need to make more of an effort to take care of myself as well as the kids. Thanks so much! It takes a lot of bravery to admit that ...Hey lady,
It takes a lot of bravery to admit that we are not feeling 100% even when it should seem we ought to be happy. I think that we forget our friends are there to support us and all we need do is ask! From the look of things, you have those friends and that support. So how do you "snap out of it?" No easy answer on that, but perspective is KEY. The weather in Vermont used to affect me so much that once I had that perspective I could figure out ways to change the setting and I found a great remedy was light and color. I had a lot of lamps and lights etc in Vermont (wasn't so concerned with electric bills then I guess), but it still holds today. Sometimes I have to go around and turn on all the lights just to make the room a little brighter.

Getting out of bed and making it immediately and opening the curtains and letting light in! You never saw my place in Brooklyn, but all the walls have some bright color on them. Don't know what your housing is right now, but maybe redo a room. Put some color on one of the walls. You and Zoe can pick the color and she can even help paint, with supervision of course. Of course having two little ones can make this challenging. Eating good food, healthy food and the daily walk for fresh air and exercise is also key. Even if the walk is just around the block.

Depression is a tricky thing. Sometimes I think we think it is a diagnoses for the "really depressed" But that feeling is real no matter where it falls on the scale of things. Paying attention to it is important and you are doing just that, but don't let all the "internet searches" overtake you. Always a good idea to find someone you can talk to. I sometimes find myself not even discussing the problems but setting goals or just talking about everyday things with my therapist. Knowing she is there to support me outside of friends and family has helped me overcome and now actually reach out to my friends and family more. So maybe finding someone would be a good idea.

Keeping plants around or even planting some seedlings is another project for you and Zoe and it gives a good routine and brightens up the room. And my favorite one of all is of course MUSIC!! Reach out to everyone to find the song that gets them going, makes them smile, lifts their mood, and gather it all up for yourself to listen to! An old fav of mine from college was Peter Gabriel's Salisbury Hill. Just a great upbeat song!

I have fought depression for more than 15 years and being honest and unafraid of talking about it has always made all the difference. The one thing I kept finding, was that I actually wasn't alone and the person who seemed the most together, more than likely was feeling exactly like me. You are NOT A LOSER!! You are an amazing lady who has a great family, a great blog which allows you to help others and yourself, and you should be very proud of your most recent post!

good luck and come visit Brooklyn sometime!
Marthabigmakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17050002192695554891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3180963318526297211.post-18268149565144433662012-02-14T12:45:20.390-08:002012-02-14T12:45:20.390-08:00Thank you so much, Irene!Thank you so much, Irene!Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13684604131518233668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3180963318526297211.post-79568976974027039022012-02-14T03:53:58.310-08:002012-02-14T03:53:58.310-08:00I truly love reading your blog-you remind me of wh...I truly love reading your blog-you remind me of when I was in my 20s and 30s with little kids and so far from my family and support group (we moved to California after my wedding-you might not remember because you were pretty little when you came to my wedding at McCullough Mansion). It's hard to be far from those you love and familiar places. Motherhood is hard too-I think having the net to surf and connect with friends (even if you've never met some of your friends on line!)is wonderful for some adult connection and conversation when you physically can't get out with friends.

You're allowed to feel how you feel-ecstatic, joyous, sad and extremely bummed sometimes. Winter is a pain-I agree with Rachel on February and March being tough months to get through up North-actually anywhere with mountains blocking the horizon, nice as those mountains are!

I love reading about all of the activities that you do with your children-you are a great mom, Sarah-very creative and very loving! I'm very proud to know you-if I had a daughter, I would hope that she would be just like you!
Big hugs from Mississippi!imidurskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11946431572547595163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3180963318526297211.post-30692644491492692952012-02-13T20:28:40.080-08:002012-02-13T20:28:40.080-08:00Thanks Julie!
